CNC Swiss Machinist

High precision micro component company seeks a motivated, self-starter CNC Swiss Lathe Machinist to help support continued growth.  Primary responsibility is programming, setup and operation of Swiss lathe.  Successful candidate will have knowledge of Swiss turning methods, techniques, tooling, software, and knowledge of machining a wide variety of materials.  Successful candidate will demonstrate the company core values, People, Integrity, and Excellence, in all aspects of their assigned duties and responsibilities.  

Reports To: Production Manager

Pay Range: $30 – $40/hr

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Setup, program, and operate a Swiss lathe: 
    • Perform full machine setups, including tool selection, material loading, and initial programming adjustments. 
    • Develop and accurately document machining processes. 
    • Identify and order required tools and materials. 
    • Program using DP Tech Esprit and manual programming. 
    • Operate and troubleshoot a Nomura CNC Swiss lathe. 
  • Conduct in-process inspection to ensure high-quality standards:
    • Perform precision inspections using micrometers and microscopes. 
    • Document inspection results as required. 
  • Ensure all Swiss lathe processes are executed with precision, focusing on on-time delivery and minimizing quality issues. 
  • Collaborate with the production manager and team to meet project deadlines safely and efficiently. 
  • Maximize machine utilization by working closely with area managers and other toolmakers. 
  • Recommend and perform preventative maintenance in coordination with area managers. 
  • Propose new or improved production processes to the production manager/general manager. 
  • Assist sales and estimating teams in accurately quoting work based on machining requirements. 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment. 

Employee will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required: Extensive experience with CNC Swiss setup and operation. 
  • Required: Proven ability to set up, and operate CNC Swiss lathes. 
  • Preferred: CNC Programming experience (DP Technology ESPRIT preferred). 
  • Preferred: Exposure to SolidWorks. 
  • Required: One-year machining trade certificate OR five years of Swiss turning experience. 
  • Required: Two or more years of CNC Machining and Programming experience. 
  • Required: Experience working with tight tolerances and small precision parts. 
  • Must have: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment. 
  • Basic computer skills required.
